Ryan Smith works at Neuman Thompson, a labour and employment boutique law firm located in Edmonton and serving all parts of Alberta. Ryan joined Neuman Thompson after working at the Edmonton branch of a national law firm, where he practiced in general litigation, including labour and employment. Ryan has experience with contracts, policies, collective agreements, human rights, privacy issues, workers’ compensation, and wrongful dismissal, among other areas of labour and employment law.
Van Luu has over 20 years of project, program and technology experience in such domains as Alarm Detection, Security, Audio and Video.  He has managed large scale technology projects for Rona, CNN, CBC, TD Bank, Prudential, ATCO Electric and Enbridge Pipelines. Van’s move into the safety industry combines his company’s technological expertise with the security expertise of GardaWorld Protective Services.  Van currently runs the technology development division of Allshield Technologies throughout Western Canada. 

Neil Lemay is a seasoned security professional having acquired over 35 years of experience in law enforcement, as well as public and national security. He has held senior security and crisis management positions with the Government of Alberta (GoA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Neil was a Team Commander for the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit, conducting homicide investigations on some of Canada’s most dangerous killers.  He was also a decorated member of the RCMP’s elite undercover unit. As Deputy Chief (Ret’d) of the Alberta Sheriffs and Security Operations Branch for the Government of Alberta, Neil is one of Canada’s subject matter experts in the protection of people, property and information.   In this role, Neil championed the Immediate Action/Rapid Deployment response program for Active Shooters within the GOA, and developed the GoA training programs in relation to Active Shooters. 
Tyler Duggan has worked in Oilfield rig operations and private building security, and spent close to three years as an Alberta Sheriff before joining GardaWorld in 2001.  As Garda’s Western Canadian Regional Manager, Tyler’s main functions are to mentor and guide account managers, and assist in quality management system and best practices in security program implementation throughout western Canada. He recently completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree through Royal Roads University, and has 18 years of experience in loss prevention, law enforcement, account management, and event security.
Dean Heuman, Principal / Executive Advisor at Focus Communications, has a knack for quickly becoming fully immersed in whatever he is working on. He is adaptable and will always get the job done. Accompanying Dean’s 30 years of marketing and communications experience is his background as an entrepreneur. Dean has owned several businesses over the years, making him the perfect advisor to executives and business owners.Dean is a critical thinker and has an unparalleled ability to listen to a client’s issue and immediately identify multiple strategies to attack the problem or challenge. His innovative thinking always encourages others to see the possibilities instead of the barriers. Dean co-owns Focus Communications and is a huge fan of discovering new experiences in life. 
  Brad Joly joined GardaWorld in December of 2016 as the Account Manager for the retail division.  Brad began his career in the security industry back in 2002, starting as a security officer for the West Edmonton Mall.  Over the next fourteen and half years, Brad was promoted to supervisor and assistant manager, and spent the last eight years as the operations manager.  Brad’s various roles allowed him to gain valuable experience in emergency response planning, event planning, risk management and human resources.  Brad is a graduate of Lethbridge College’s Criminal Justice program, and holds a diploma in Policing and a diploma in Corrections. 
  Michael Ling is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, and has worked as an occupational hygiene consultant for the City of Edmonton.  An OHS Officer with the Alberta Labour since February of 2013, Michael recently joined the Partnerships in Injury Reduction team in August on 2017.   
Paul Semeniuk co-founded the Mental Rescue Society in 2016, a non profit organization building mental health awareness.  He is a City of Edmonton Firefighter and the Director of Operations for True Link Safety, a company offering an expanding range of health and safety services, including delivery of Mental Health First Aid training certified by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. 

Cst. Dexx Williams has been a police officer with the Edmonton Police Service for 10 years, and currently works in the EPS Hospitality Policing Unit. His team focuses on ensuring public safety and compliance with legislation in hospitality and entertainment venues within the City of Edmonton. Part of his role in this unit is providing safety and target hardening strategies to the public to reduce people’s likelihood of becoming victims of crime in the future.
