Partnerships’ revised Audit Standard has been expanded to include questions about two different types of hazard assessment:  Formal Hazard Assessment and Site-Specific Hazard Assessment (a.k.a. "Field-Level Hazard Assessment"). To ensure AHSA members have an understanding of what Site-Specific Hazard Assessment is, when it should be used, and the steps in the process, a new online training session has been posted to our web site.  This short training piece is available for free to AHSA members and associate members and can be accessed by clicking here

Our members have spoken, and the AHSA is listening!  We have heard your requests for workplace violence training, and plans are in the works to begin designing security training to fill the needs of the hospitality industry. Before we move any further on this project, however, we’d like more details about the kinds of training that would be of value to you.  Please take a few moments to click here and give us your feedback.

WCB AND psychiatric conditions IN THE WORKPLACE

Ever wondered how the WCB determines whether psychological and psychiatric conditions are work-related, and therefore compensable?  A number of WCB policies come into play to make these decisions.  Find out how the process works by clicking here for access to a Worksight article that has all the answers.

Conducting an external Certificate of Recognition audit this year, and not sure what you need to do to prepare for the arrival of the audit team?  The latest entry in the AHSA’s series of webinars-on-demand will help answer your many questions.  This short 26-minute session covers everything from coordinating audit dates and determining representative sampling, to what you need to do to accommodate the auditors and what happens once they leave your property.  To access this and other webinar titles, click here.

Mental health in the workplace

The CSA’s standard addressing Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace is the first one of its kind in the world, and is designed to help employers identify hazards to worker psychological health.  The standard specifies requirements for a documented and systematic approach to develop and support psychological health and safety in the workplace. Employers are invited to download the standard for FREE!  Click here for your copy.

Fall Training schedule

The AHSA’s fall training schedule has been updated, and includes training required for Hospitality Safety Leadership Certification eligibility. Note that some of the October dates previously scheduled for Calgary have been moved back a week. For the latest training schedule, click here.  And as always, contact Erica if you would like to host a session in your area.
