Course Details


This course is designed to introduce participates with the concept of emergency response planning methodology and what the requirements are in developing and maintaining an quality emergency response plan for individual workplaces. This course was developed in conjunction with the Emergency Response Planning Guidebook for the Hospitality Industry. This guidebook was created in partnership between AHSA and the Alberta Government.

Learning Objectives

The learning objectives for this course are:

  1. Who to involve in emergency response planning.
  2. To identify potential emergencies and assess associated risk.
  3. To provide guidance for developing and implementing an emergency response plan.

Who should take this course?

  • Anyone who wants to increase their knowledge of workplace health and safety. 
  • Key staff. As part of the Hospitality Safety Leadership Certificate program, key staff are required to participate and successful complete the course in order to meet the program requirements for Level 3.
  • Auditors in Training. As part of the Certificate of Recognition program, this course is a prerequisite for the Auditor Training course.

Recommended Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment & Control

Duration: 3.5 hours

Please note: It is expected that all students will actively participate in the discussion and in class exercises to ensure that an understanding and learning objectives for the course are achieved. Minimum passing grade is 80%.
